Hannibal Jaycees to Host ‘Pitch, Hit and Run’ Competition

The Hannibal Jaycees will be hosting their 2^nd Annual “Pitch, Hit, & Run” at Bear Creek Sports Park for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 and is a skill competition event focusing on the areas of pitching, hitting, and running. This event takes place on Sunday, May 5, at 2 p.m. with registration beginning at 1 p.m.

Major League Baseball supports "Pitch Hit & Run" and is intended to encourage youth participation and emphasize the FUN element of baseball or softball. Since there is NO registration fee, everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Major League Baseball’s “Pitch Hit & Run” tests three of the most fundamental aspects of the game in pitching, hitting and running. Each participant will be tested throwing strikes to a designated strike zone target. Then each participant will get to hit a ball off a stationary tee for distance and accuracy. Finally, each participant will be timed, starting from second base, touching third then touching home plate. All of the events are individually scored and converted to a total point score.

Major League Baseball’s “Pitch Hit & Run” has four levels of competition.... Local, Sectional, Team Championship and National Finals. The first level is of a LOCAL scope. Everyone must participate in a local competition in order to advance to the higher levels. Champions at the local level advance to a SECTIONAL Competition. At this level, the Sectional All-Around Champions become eligible to advance to the TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS, which are held during June in all 30 Major League Baseball markets. The culmination occurs at the NATIONAL FINALS held annually during All-Star Week.

All participants must provide a copy of a valid birth document for age verification at all levels of competition. Each youngster may participate in only one division - baseball or softball.
