The 10th annual Ice Bowl will be held on January 30 at Huckleberry Park’s Disc Golf Course, sponsored by the Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department.

Tee-off will begin at 10 a.m. that Saturday. Participants will play two rounds of disc golf. Food will be provided and prizes will be awarded. Registration for the 10th annual Ice Bowl will begin at 9 a.m.

The fee is $10 and proceeds will go to the "Buddy Pack" program, which benefits more than 500 Marion County schoolchildren. The program allows those children to take home backpacks full of free food each Friday. The backpacks are full of juice, soup, cereal, peanut butter and other simple staples. The goal is to make sure low-income children stay fed, healthy and productive.

The Ice Bowl program is a disc golf event held in January or February with a mission to increase local awareness of disc golf by raising charitable funds to combat hunger, according to the national Ice Bowl website. Ice Bowls emphasize fun over competition, while presenting a positive image for disc golf and disc golfers.

In 2015, there were 238 events that raised a record $344,184. The goal for 2016 is to raise $350K. Since 1996, Ice Bowl has raised over $3,100,000. Spectators are encouraged to watch the action at Huckleberry Park.
