The list of scheduled community events continues to drop like flies. The 2020 Hootenanny Harvest Festival in Hannibal is the latest to fall victim to the global pandemic. The organizers just announced they've canceled the event set for September.

The Hootenanny Harvest Festival is sponsored by the Hannibal Rotary Club. The group announced on its Facebook page that they've had to cancel the event because of COVID-19 considerations.

The Hootenanny cancellation comes on the heels of the announcement that Hannibal will not host its annual Folklife Festival. Other major events like the Hannibal BBQ Festival, the Brew Skies Music Festival and much more have been forced to cancel this year.

While the people who attend these events will miss the fun, the greatest loss comes from the businesses, groups and non-profit organizations that depend on that income. The Hootenanny Harvest Festival typically funds Rotary Club grants that go back to help fill needs in the Hannibal community.
