Did you know that the Halloween store in Quincy is already open for the season? Or that the Hannibal Jaycees are already working hard on getting this year's haunted house ready? Several preparations are being made for Halloween events and activities around the area. Here's what we know, so far.

Spirit Halloween has returned to the storefront they were in last year, next to Best Buffet. Their first day of operation was Friday, August 22. They're open from 11 - 7 Monday through Saturday, and noon - 6 on Sunday.

The Hannibal Jaycees will be adding zombie paintball and a maze to this year's haunted house. There will be an additional $5 charge to play zombie paintball - featuring live actors, not animatronics - but the maze will be included with your normal haunted house admission. The Hannibal Jaycees Haunted House will operate each Friday and Saturday night in October, including Halloween night!

After an overwhelming response in its first year, the Safe Halloween For Kids event will return again at the Eagle's Nest Hotel and Conference Center in Quincy. The date of Safe Halloween for Kids is Thursday, October 30. The Eagle's Nest will also be bringing back their Haunted Hotel for a second year.

The Halloween Trail of Terror at Mark Twain Landing Resort begins on October 3, and continues each weekend throughout the month, and on November 1 - 2.

It's probably safe to assume that other annual favorites like the Hannibal Police Department's Halloween Party and the corn mazes will also take place in 2014, but details are not yet available. We will post updated information as soon as we receive it.

However you celebrate Halloween, we hope you and your family have a happy and safe one. Be sure to check out our exclusive preview video of this year's Hannibal Jaycees Haunted House below!
