October really is a fun month. There are always a ton of cool Halloween things to do locally, regionally and even statewide. Here are some popular haunted attractions around Missouri. You'll have to take a drive to get to them, but if you're a haunted house fanatic, you won't want to miss these haunted attractions. They only come around once a year. Besides, everyone likes a road trip, right?

Columbia

Fearfest - Fearfest is three miles west of Columbia off I-70 at exit 121. Fearfest attractions include the Tormented Haunted House, and also Zombie Safari, which gives you a chance to shoot at live zombies. The ticket booth opens at 7. Attractions are open 8-10 on Thursdays, and 8-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are $20 for Zombie Safari, $20 for Tormented Haunted House. NecroPlanet - Two haunted attractions in one! The Pit and Necropolis. Hours are 8-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and 8-11 on Sundays. Necropolis tickets are $15, tickets to The Pit are $10. A $20 combo ticket includes admission to both attractions. According to the NecroPlanet website: "The Pit has been massively expanded and Necropolis has an all new surprise waiting for you this year." Kansas City

KC West Bottoms - The Twelfth Street Bridge Historic West Bottoms District, near downtown Kansas City is the nerve center for Halloween haunted houses. The Edge of Hell has been a Halloween tradition in Kansas City since 1975, and the Beast has been operating since 1991. Both rank among the best haunted houses in the nation. In fact, Fangoria named the Beast second-best in the nation in 2014! Halloween Haunt at Worlds of Fun - Worlds of Fun is celebrating Halloween with mazes, rides, scare zones, shows, and all kinds of Halloween-themed attractions. St. Louis

The Abyss - The Abyss is a haunted house where visitors descend underground five stories in a place with no light, at a real haunted house at Lemp Brewery. It is only two miles from the Darkness, St. Louis's premiere haunted house (see below). Tickets for the Abyss are $25 for adults, $23 for children. Creepyworld - Creepyworld has 13 haunted Attractions in one location. This year there are two all new haunted houses: Whispering Winds Cemetery and The Doll House Haunted Mansion. Other attractions include Silo-X, Hornbuckel Pig Farm, Grisly Gore Zone, Carnivorous in 3D, Tool Shed, Dark Zone, Zombie City Paintball Hayride, Evil Dread, Supermax, and Haunted Hospital plus the Hollywood Pumpkin Display and the world's only all dead Zombie Band. An outdoor movie screen will show horror movies for those waiting in line. Creepyworld tickets are $25 for adults and $23 for children. The Darkness - The Darkness has been scaring visitors for over twenty years, and has is frequently named by national publications among the best haunted houses in America. The Darkness has four haunted attractions in one location for one price: the two story Darkness Haunted House, Terror Visions 3D Haunted House, New Outdoor Scare Zone and the Monster Museum and gift store. Six Flags Fright Fest - Halloween and Six Flags, a winning combination! Fright Fest is every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening from October 2 through November 1. During the day Six Flag is geared for all ages, with not-so-scary thrills for smaller kids. At night, things start to get scary! "As the sun starts to set the freaks are unleashed and the park is transformed into a frightful shadowland with terror around every corner and your worst nightmares coming to life. With themed scare zones, horrifying haunted attractions, and coasters in the dark there is something to terrify even the bravest souls." Ticket prices vary.
