Gene Grawe Fund Awards Scholarships

The 2019 Gene Grawe Fund Scholarships were awarded last night at St. Dominic School in Quincy.

Scholarships for 471 Quincy families were awarded totaling more than $288-thousand with 84 families receiving at least $1,000. This year’s distribution pushed the all-time total over a special threshold. Since 2008, and prior to last night, the Gene Grawe Fund has awarded $1,717,821 to Quincy families to offset Catholic tuition and with last nights distribution of funds over $2-million has now been awarded.

Those funds were raised through the purchase of gift cards, as well as online purchases, at many local and national businesses. A portion of each sale then was returned to the Gene Grawe Fund by the business.

Founded in 2005 in Quincy, the Gene Grawe Fund, Inc. is a non-profit charity started by JoAnn (Grawe) Witte to honor her father, the late Gene Grawe. He was a longtime officer with the Western Catholic Union who died in 2003 after a 17 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. From its humble beginnings in 2005, the Gene Grawe Fund, Inc. has grown into a well-respected, local charity.
