Mental Fitness Exam Ordered for Derek McKenzie

A judge Thursday morning orders a mental fitness exam for a Quincy man accused of first degree murder.

Judge Debra Wellborn granted the request for the exam for 29-year-old Derek McKenzie. The request was filed by McKenzie’s public defender.

McKenzie is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the death of 48-year-old Billy Graham of Quincy earlier this week.

Graham’s body was found in an apartment above Izzey’s Bar and Grill on North 5th Street.

McKenzie is alleged to have used his fists and a metal clamp to beat Graham to death.

McKenzie is scheduled to be back in court December 17 for a status update.
