OMG. We totally get how much you guys love One Direction, but for the sake of all your precious little hearts out there, stop screaming! Because not only is it affecting your throats, it’s apparently affecting 1D’s golden boy Louis Tomlinson as well.

Louis is losing his hearing and suffering from tinnitus, which is not a disease, but a condition. Tinnitus “is the perception of sound within the human ear in the absence of corresponding external sound” and can result from “a wide range of underlying causes: neurological damage (multiple sclerosis), ear infections, foreign objects in the ear, nasal allergies that prevent (or induce) fluid drain, or wax build-up.” Thanks Wikipedia!

“I am actually going slightly deaf in my right ear. It’s tinnitus … something like that,” said Tomlinson to Radio City Live. ”All our fans are always very loud, especially Scousers.” Scousers is slang for an individual from Liverpool, England — where he’s placing the blame on those particular fans!

A source told The Daily Record that those around One Direction are taking certain measures to make sure Tomlinson’s condition doesn’t worsen, and to possibly prevent it from happening to the other band members.

“When watching them, the band’s security team and family now have to wear earplugs. The guys are only young, and still developing, so management insist they wear special, hi-tech in-ear earpieces and filters to reduce the noise of the fans’ screaming,” said the source. “It also reduces the levels of bass and music from the stage. When Louis made his comments, he had a really bad earache but, thankfully, this has now cleared up but he knows to be careful in future.”

You’ve been warned, 1D fans. Maybe take those screams down to a dull roar — for the overall safety of the guys!
