Douglas Community Services in Hannibal is holding assessment of what help is needed by residents following the recent storms. The assessment will be Friday, June 7, from 1 - 3 p.m. in the community room at Douglas Community Services.

"One of our federal mandates is to provide disaster relief and mitigation assistance" said Stacy Nicholas, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Director at Douglas Community Services. Nicholas says that Douglas has helped provide such assistance for every natural disaster in Marion County for the past three years.

Those seeking help will meet with RSVP volunteers who will conduct a quick survey. That survey will help Douglas and partnering community organizations ascertain needs for food, clothing and shelter. Insurance help will also be available.

Applicants should bring identification in the form of a drivers license, state ID or utility bill. Douglas Community Services is located at 711 Grand Avenue in Hannibal.
