Why can’t people just leave a good thing alone? Have you ever asked that question? Well, I asked it earlier this week when word came down that Nabisco, makers of Oreo Cookies, will be debuting the new, skinny version of their cookie called Oreo Thins.

The cookie is described as slimmer and “more sophisticated” than the traditional Oreo. An Oreo Thin is also slightly less caloric than the regular cookie with only 35 calories compared to 42 for the regular Oreo. Are you kidding me? They made this change to save a whopping 7 calories?

Before you know it they will want us to eat the Oreo Thins with evaporated milk as well.  Give me a break! Dunking an Oreo into an ice cold glass of milk is as American as it gets. Pulling apart the cookie is pro USA as well and I hear that this new cookie is not as easy to pull apart.

If I want a lesser cookie I will eat half of the regular one. “I don’t need no stinking Thin Oreo.” To the guy at Nabisco who made this decision, ask Coke about changing their highly successful product. Why can’t people just leave a good thing alone?
