If you have driven down the streets of Quincy lately, you have already noticed the need for some repair work on many of them. Too many of them. The City Council on July 25th did sign-off on an 830-thousand dollar contract with Diamond Construction Company to do paving work in the city. Now the City Council will need to have to get together to decide what streets need it the worst.

With seven wards and 14 councilmen deciding, let the debate begin. As we have seen in the past, the council hardly ever agrees on anything so let the asphalt fly. There is no way the city budget can handle the amount of streets needing repair, so the final list of streets should be interesting.

Perhaps the City of Quincy needs to come up with an even/odd year street repair plan with Wards 1, 2 and 3 being designated for repair work during even years and Wards 4, 5, 6 and 7 during odd numbered years.  Just a thought! And that’s the way I see it!
