If you were wondering if Washington Park will be lite up this holiday season the answer is yes, However, instead of a large gathering this year in the park, The District has planned a Christmas Cruise.

After you've done all your shopping on Small Business Saturday, plan on coming back to The District to enjoy the holiday lights from your own car at the Christmas Cruise.
Several small businesses will be decorating, creating holiday window displays, and making sure that The District is bright and festival this holiday season.

Starting at 6 pm on November 28th, the Quincy Fire Department and Santa will kick off the cruise at 12th & Maine. There will be holiday characters, including Buddy the Elf, set up along the route until 7:30 pm to give everyone a chance to cruise on by and wave.

The Christmas Cruise drive will start at 12th & Maine, then head toward the river.  You will then want to turn right onto 5th Street to admire the Christmas lights and decorations in Washington Par. Follow the map onto Vermont Street where the Quincy Fire Department and Santa will be distributing Toys for Tots gifts to children at the Quincy Fire Station (9th & Vermont). Available while supplies last.

I LOVE this idea, and hope that The District brings this back next year. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed being at the park with my family watching the lights come one and take pictures with all the holiday characters, but this idea is really creative and still gets people to downtown Quincy and have a fun festive night with the family.
