Hannibal's program to help feed the hungry--or anyone who wants a meal--is making some changes as the group transitions to another phase of COVID-19 safety precautions.

Beginning on Monday, July 13th, grab-and-go meals will be available Monday through Friday for pick-up at a new location at the old Helping Hand Baptist Church building at 1020 Lyon Street in Hannibal.

The Harvest Outreach Loaves and Fishes Program is reintroducing volunteer groups back into the picture, and returning to the evening meal format at the new location.  Continued modifications are still being implemented in order to minimize COVID exposures and risks. Volunteer groups will be providing and preparing the food, but it will be distributed curbside in grab and go sacks/containers to ensure that continued precautions can be taken, and the number of those gathering in one place will be limited.

The Loaves and Fishes program has been feeding the needy in the Hannibal area for over 20 years. When COVID-19 hit earlier in the year, emergency modifications needed to be made. During the crisis, thanks to increased financial support from multiple donors and organizations, Harvest Outreach purchased sack lunch meals to be made and distributed by the Hannibal Nutrition Center alongside their curbside noon meal service for seniors.  the organization

Individuals wanting a meal are asked to either drive up or walk up to the door on the 11st street side of the building, and a meal will either be brought out to your car or given to you at the door. Loitering at the location is not going to be allowed for the safety and well-being of all.

Loaves and Fishes is always looking for volunteer and financial help. If you have a group that would like to volunteer one night a month to prepare and distribute a meal, please contact at 573-693-7365 and choose the Loaves and Fishes menu option.
