On August 19th St. Louis Cardinal broadcaster legend Mike Shannon had heart valve replacement surgery in St. Louis and the hope was he could return to the broadcast booth before the end of the season.  Well, that hope will become a reality as Shannon will be behind the microphone tonight just 36 days after his surgery.

Mike is telling friends and KMOX that he is “all good” and eager to return to the booth tonight when the Cardinals take on the Washington Nationals in St. Louis.   During his absence, thousands of Cardinal and baseball fans from around the country have sent Shannon their thoughts, prayers, flowers and cards during his recovery.  According to an interview with KMOX radio Shannon said “It was so gratifying to hear from so many people. Cards, letters, and good wishes, and all the prayers too".

In his absence, Rick Horton, Al Hrabosky and Mike Claiborne have filled in for Shannon.  It will be great to hear him back in the booth saying "get up baby, get up"  instead of his doctors telling him the same thing. Welcome back Mike!
