Spring flooding is throwing a kink in the plans for the first-ever Big River Steampunk Spring Faire in Hannibal coming up this weekend, March 30 and 31.

\Due to flooding at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center, organizers announced on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/268854867107165/ that they have moved the venue to the Star Theater on Historic Hannibal's Main Street.

Steampunk has been gaining steam in Hannibal since the first Big River Steampunk Festival debuted over the Labor Day weekend six years ago.  This is the first time for the Spring Faire.

For those who are unfamiliar with the steampunk genre, it's an eclectic mash-up of Victorian England, the Industrial Revolution, the Guilded Age, science fiction, futurism, and fantasy.  It's most noted for creative, outlandish outfits.

The theme for the Steampunk Spring Faire is Ragtime. Events include fashion shows, 40-plus vendors, contests and all-day entertainment.  You can get your tickets to both Steampunk Festivals in 2019 by visiting www.bigriversteampunkfestival.com.
