For the music industry, today is a huge day in music history. Three monumental events took place on August 15 in 1965, 1969 and 1991.  

In 1965 the Beatles played at Shea stadium in new York before a record breaking crowd of 55,600. In 1969 the first Woodstock Music Festival was held. The three day festival was held near Max Yasgur's farm in Bethel, New York The festival featured 24 bands and drew a crowd of more than 400,000 people. The other event in 1991 was the free concert put on by Paul Simon. That concert was held at New York's Central Park and drew 750,000 people (350,000 more people than Woodstock drew).
