A new tradition at Hannibal Regional Hospital honors deceased veterans in a special way.  It's called The Final Salute.  When a veteran passes away at the hospital, they are sent off with a special ceremony as a sign of honor and respect.

The veterans are draped in a patriotic blanket made by HRH Auxiliary Volunteers.  As the veteran and their loved ones leave the hospital, Taps is played overhead as health care workers, visitors and fellow soldiers line the hallways for the final salute.
Civilians place their hands on their hearts, whiles veterans and active military give the traditional salute in the send off.
