There's no place like Clarksville. Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, and even the Wicked Witch of the West will all be in Clarksville, Missouri for "A Day in Oz" on Saturday, August 29.

This special Oz-themed day will include an appearance by Spirit of Oz, a professional touring group of Oz characters, who will peform in the park throughout the day. There will also be a Breakfast With Oz Characters for $6 per person, and several games and contests, like a Little Mister Scarecrow Contest, Little Miss Dorothy Contest, Scarecrow Building Contest, and Wicket Witch Cackle Contest.

The Clarksville Community Chamber of Commerce is the sponsor of "A Day in Oz," a one-time event that will only be taking place this year, and they're looking forward to welcoming visitors the the city. "Clarksville will roll out the yellow brick road," said the Chamber. "National Oz character touring group, Spirit of Oz, will be here all day entertaining and greeting guests. The streets will be lined with vendor booths; including crafts, antiques, flea market, etc, as well as, food vendors. There will be a Little Mister Scarecrow and a Little Miss Dorothy contest, magic shows, live entertainment, petting zoo, Wicked Witch cackle contest, pie eating contest, and so much more! The fun packed day will end at dusk with an outdoor movie screening of the Wizard of Oz in Riverside Park."
