Archer Daniels Midland Company recently donated $2,200 to the Madonna House with the money to be used to sponsor the June 3 and August 5 Mobile Food Pantries.

The donation was given through the ADM Cares program. ADM Cares is a social investment program that directs funds to initiatives and organizations that drive meaningful social, economic and environmental progress worldwide. The program comprises three distinct focus areas: supporting the responsible development of agriculture, improving the quality of life in ADM communities and fostering employee giving and volunteer activities.

The donation secures the funding to bring 12,000 pounds of food to our community at the June and August Mobile Food Pantries. Each mobile food pantry will serve over 500 individuals in the area according to Joanne Dedert, the Executive Director.

Since 1988, Madonna House has provided shelter, food and diapers, and emotional support to families in need. In 2013, Madonna House began its Outreach Prevention Program by teaching Everyday Life Skills in New Start Rescue Mission, Fishers of Men, The Well House, Horizons Social Service, Cheerful Home, Quincy Senior High School, 9th Hour and Quincy Junior High School. Individual sessions are provided at an off-site location.

The food pantry is located at 601 State Street in Quincy, serving on average 1,200 individuals per month. The food pantry hours of operation are 1 to 3 p.m. every Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 12:00 noon every Saturday. The diaper pantry is open Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, contact the Madonna House at 224-7771.
