Do you have oil-based paint, old household cleaning supplies, lawn and garden chemicals? Illinois residents with these and other types of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) who are looking to do a little cleaning and clear them out of their basements and garages will have the opportunity to dispose of these materials at a free upcoming HHW collection event.

This event will be held Saturday, October 12 at the Adams County Highway Department (101 N 54th St. in Quincy) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This opportunity for safe, legal disposal of HHW items is open to all Illinois residents.

Waste materials that will be accepted at the event include:

 Oil-based paints

 Household batteries

 Business/commercial sector wastes

 Smoke detectors

 Explosives and ammunition
