It's Smoke on the River Weekend complements of the Quincy Exchange Club.  Over 40 professional cookers will be setting up their barbecue rigs at Kesler Park in Quincy competing for the $5000 in prize money this year plus the right to advance to the American Royal National BBQ competition in Kansas City, Missouri. There is no charge to attend. One of the big changes made this year is that whenever you come to the event (Tonight from 4 to Midnight or Saturday from 10am to Midnight) you will able able to purchase the food from these pros as well as other vendors. In years past that was only available for a few hours on Saturday.

Along with the great food, you can hear Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters on the Dock's Stage from 8 to midnight tonight ($5 cover charge) and Tim Hart tomorrow from 1 to 4 (no cover charge) and then K.C. Group Therapy tomorrow night from 8 to midnight ($5 cover charge).

I find the best time to attend is late this afternoon or early evening when you can walk thru the park and check out the cooking rigs and smell the different types of wood burning.  The aroma is wonderful. All proceeds from the weekend will go to the Quincy Exchange Club.
