15 Amazing Cakes Created in the Quincy Area [Photo Gallery]

Is there anyone that doesn't like cake? Not only are cakes a lot of fun to eat, but sometimes they're just as much fun to look at! Shows like 'Food Network Challenge,' 'Ace of Cakes,' and 'Cake Boss' are popular because of the amazing creations the bakers are able to come up with. We happen to have some equally-as-impressive cake decorators right here in our area.

Krazy Cakes Cafe and Bakery is at 512 Hampshire in Quincy. The business got started when one of the owners baked a birthday cake for her daughter and posted pictures on the internet. Via social networking, word spread and requests started coming in, and a business was born! Krazy Cakes says that the "kraziest" cake request they've ever come across is not appropriate for print, but they did say that they once were hired to create a cake that was truly unique. "A bedpan with poop inside was our strangest request....the poo was a Baby Ruth candy bar."

Kreative Kakes by Lisa is based in Durham, Missouri. Lisa says that her story is very similar to Krazy Cakes', "I started doing cakes for my children, then friends and family. Once I started more and more people were putting in requests." Lisa says that, like us, she watches the cake competition television shows, "Yes, I do watch the cake show competitions, sometimes you learn good tricks from them. I would compete in one, I would love the challenge. We have competed in the YWCA cake-a-palooza extreme competition twice, and winning once."  Lisa has also had some odd requests, "Some of the strangest ones we have done are a princess mouse, and a sun burnt penguin. A couple of our most unique wedding cakes were one that looked like straw bales, and a tree stump cake."
