Don’t get caught by surprise that next Monday, June 18, is when your Adams County Property Taxes are due. For years I have expected my first installment of my Adams County tax bill would be due the first week of July and the second installment would be due the first week of September. So when I got my bill this year, my eyes went right to the bottom line of what I owe and not to the due dates for each installment.

By chance, I looked more closely to find out that the first installment is now due next Monday, June 18th, some two weeks earlier than usual. The second installment is due September 4th which is not a change from past years.

The reason given was to allow more time between installment payments. Some 35,561 tax bills were sent out in May. Adams County taxpayers should have received their tax bill by May 19th according to Adams County Collector Terry Asher according to a recent Herald Whig article.

You can pay one installment at a time or pay both at once. Payments can be mailed, dropped in the 24 hour drop box on the 5th Street entrance of the Courthouse (west side) or in person at the Treasurer’s office.
