You Might Want to Plan a Road Trip For These August Concerts!

Summertime is the perfect time to get out and see a concert. In August, several huge acts will be appearing in our region. From St. Louis and Springfield, to Des Moines and Sedalia during the state fairs, here are some top concerts scheduled for August.

David De Lossy

OneRepublic and The Script will be at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in St. Louis on August 2.

The Illinois State Fair in Springfield always brings top talent to central Illinois. This year, Robin Thicke, Magic!, the American Idols Live tour, and Hunter Hayes are among the acts appearing at the Illinois State Fair. The fair runs from August 7 – 17.

The Missouri State Fair also takes place August 7 – 17. For those of you that like 80s music, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will be at the fair on August 8, and Florida Georgia Line, who are a country act, but they’ve found a lot of crossover success, will also be at the fair on August 13.

Guess what the dates are for the Iowa State Fair. Yep. August 7 – 17 (apparently THE best week ever to have a state fair). Daughty, The Goo Goo Dolls and Plain White T’s will be in Des Moines on Saturday, August 9 and Foreigner and Styx will wrap up the fair with a concert on August 17.

For fans of Classic Rock, REO Speedwagon and Chicago will be at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on August 8.

Miley Cyrus was scheduled to be at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis in April. However, that’s when Miley got sick and had to cancel several shows, including her St. Louis date, but it’s been rescheduled. Miley Cyrus’ ‘Bangerz Tour’ will be at Scottrade on August 10 at 7 p.m.

Katy Perry will be at Scottrade Center a week after Miley Cyrus, on August 17. Katy’s ‘Prismatic World Tour’ will be opened by up-and-coming country star Kacey Musgraves. The two also appeared together on ‘CMT: Crossroads,’ and for some reason felt it necessary to mention that, during their tour, they have seen each other naked “a couple of times.”

One Direction’s world stadium tour comes to the Edward Jones Dome on August 27. 5 Seconds of Summer were originally scheduled to open, but had to back out in order to appear at the MTV VMAs.
