January is National Blood Donor month, and if one of your New Year’s Resolutions was to help others then this month is your chance. According to the Red Cross, on average 13.6 million units a blood are donated by 6.8 million people every year. That sounds like enough but not when every two seconds someone needs blood.
Want to help? The American Red Cross in the Quincy area has several blood drives going on within January. Several are at the Quincy Platelet Donation Center located at 3000 N. 23rd Street. If you can’t make it to that one, there will also be a blood donation at Payson Seymour High School on January 12th and Blessing Hospital on January 13th. For more information on Quincy are blood drives just head on over to redcrossblood.org. If you are in Hannibal, Knight of Columbus will be having a blood drive January 12th and Monday January 16th. You can also make plans to attend the blood drive at Hannibal High School on January 31st.
So easy and such a small effort on you part to save a life! As a recipient of blood myself, I cannot stress how thankful I was (am) for the person who donated their blood to save my life.
