It’s been 16 days since the gunning down of 12-year-old Ray Humphrey Jr. on March 28. People in this community are still talking about the senseless killing. Unfortunately, the people talking are the wrong people. The people who should be talking are not. Those people know who did it and are afraid to give that person or persons up. Why not?

Well, the things I have heard on the street are they “don’t want to be a snitch,” they “don’t trust the cops,” and they “don’t want to give up a family member.” At this point in the investigation, I would bet the farm that the cops know who did it. They just don’t have enough evidence to make the arrest and subsequent conviction. They need eye-witnesses to come forward.

How sad is it that a 12-year-old boy is dead and his family still waits for justice to prevail all because you don’t want to be a snitch, or trust the cops, or turn in a family member.

If this was your son that was shot to death, you would want others to tell what they know. If you know something and don’t talk, the next shooting, and there will be one, just may be your son or daughter, then lets see who does talk.

If you know something about this shooting or any other crime, call Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers at 228-4474 or text TIPSQRCS and your information to 274637 or submit your information to www.quincycrimestoppers.com. All information will remain confidential and your information may lead to a $1000 cash reward if it leads to an arrest in this case.
