With the K of C Bar B Q coming this weekend, I'm planning on having a corn dog (or two). Who was the inventor of the corn dog? Some say it was first invented in 1942. Others say it was 1927.

The 1927 version of the corn dog was made by German sausage makers. But wait, Carl and Neil Fletcher introduced their "Corny Dogs" at the Texas State Fair sometime between 1938 and 1942. Several others also claim to have been the ones that invented the corn dog. The "Cozy Dog Drive-in" in Springfield, Illinois claims to have been the first to serve corn dogs on a stick in 1946.

Confusing, yes, but this weekend at the K of C Bar B Q, I plan on having a few corn dogs with friends, and honor the corn dog as the "official" meal of the K of C.

Whoever invented the corn dog, I'm glad they did!
