Don't we have a pack with the gnats, we don't bother them and they don't bother us? We should.

This year, the gnat population is booming. They are in your face, your nose and everywhere else they can dig in to. They levitate in swarms called ghosts making you mad and not fun to live with. What is it about these tiny flies that make us so mad and hard to live with?

Believe it or not, gnats do serve a purpose. They are an important food source for birds, bats and larger insects. They are not blood-thirsty like their cousin the mosquito. Some gnats don't even eat during their short lifespan. So thank you for not biting us, Mr. Gnat, but I am sure I will keep swatting at you all summer long.
