Today will mark the two week anniversary of the 5 alarm fire at the vacant Newcomb Hotel. A lot has happened since then and a lot is being discussed about the future of that site.

A fire and police investigation has led to the arrest of 24 year old Mathew C. Clark of 812 Lind Street who has been charged with burglary and criminal damage to property in excess of $100,000.

The City of Quincy found out that the owner had no insurance on the building which means that the City will have to absorb the cost of the demolition of the building and the subsequent cleanup costs as well. These are all post-fire facts.

What is not known is what will that property look like after the clenup is done and what should be built there if anything at all. There is plenty of speculation about that site's future.

So I will ask the following. If you had a decision as to what should occupy that space after the cleanup, what would you like to see at the south-east corner of 4th and Maine Streets?

Any ideas?
