What was your first real job? When I got my first paycheck. I was working on a farm in Pittsfield, Illinois and we were bucking hay in a very hot barn. The temperature had to be 115 degrees. But we worked all day getting the hay in, and at the end of that blistering day, we all looked at each other and said "let's do it again tomorrow!" And we did, at another location with even more hay to get in the barn.

We were young and full of energy and we didn't stop for anything except a could bucket of ice water. I did that for three summers in a row and loved every minute of it. And the pay was very good for back then. Would I do it again? If I was in some kind of shape, I would.

The summer of my first job was the best because we all worked together as a team. It seems these days that many people don't work as a team anymore, or don't want to work at all. They just want the paycheck and then go home. To me, work is something I like. But for others, it is just something to do to get through the day and get a check.

What was your first real job? Would you do it again?
