I have never been the type of person who goes out on New Year's Eve. Sure, I've been to some parties in my youth. But there have probably been more occasions where I have had to work instead of celebrate.

The last couple of years my girlfriend and I have ventured out, only to come home early, ring in the New Year, then immediately go to sleep.

This year will be odd. The Bears play at noon on New Year's Eve, so there is a good chance I will be enjoying a few cold ones nearly 12-hours before the proverbial ball drops. If I have to take a break from the beverages long enough to be able to venture out later in the evening, I'll do that. But I don't want to attend a large gathering, though. I would rather be in the company of a few friends - a gathering no bigger than 10-12.

Now that I think about it...sitting on the couch, watching a movie or a documentary, sounds relaxing and enjoyable to me. I cannot figure out whether it's because I would rather be working instead of socializing, or is it because I have become an old fuddy-duddy.

If you have some ideas for gathering I need to attend, let me know by commenting below. Whatever you choose to do for New Year's Eve, please be responsible. Don't drink so much that you lose control over your inhibitions. And PLEASE don't drink and drive. Choose a designated driver.

Talk to you next year!

Michael
