Watch One Direction Perform New Songs at the iTunes Festival
“We’ve spent a lot of time outside the U.K., and can we just say how incredible it is to be back in London?” One Direction singer (and troll hunter) Louis Tomlinson said to the adoring hometown crowd at the iTunes Festival in London. If having them in the U.K. means we can hear new tracks, then we don’t mind them being across the pond for a while!
Following on the insanely awesome reception of their new single, ‘Live While We’re Young,’ the band was in a fantastic mood at the show. When they covered the solemn Kings of Leon modern classic ‘Use Somebody,’ complete with Niall Horan on guitar, they still grinned. The group actually sounded a bit more emotive in their version of the song than Caleb Followill did on the original — likely because Followill is usually too inebriated to feel anything.
1D also performed new tracks, including ‘Stand Up,’ which features an “oh oh whoa-oh!” hook that’s likely to get stuck in your head for a good long time. It features a clappable, head-boppable beat to boot.
For their next song, Harry Styles teased, “This next song was written by a good friend of ours that you probably know. He’s a British man with ginger hair. His name is Edward Sheeran, and this is ‘Moments.'” ‘Moments’ is a ballad, which is totally Ed Sheeran‘s strong point — and also Zayn Malik’s. The man can sing his cute butt off!
