Was Black Friday Really Good For You?

Ok, you have had a week to digest your Turkey and dressing as well as your Black Friday Shopping experience. So, how was it? I, for one, enjoyed my Turkey dinner with my family, but did not partake in the Black Friday shopping experience.  I did make my way back into Quincy around 7:45 and drove down Broadway to experience the madness of it all. To me it didn't see as overwhelming as in past years.

I did check out the Walmart parking lot which was totally packed with vehicles. As I made my way down Broadway, I came past Farm and Home Supply to see plenty of cars in their lot waiting for the doors to open at 8 p.m. Then it was time to check out K-Mart's lot. It was less than half filled. I guess their 2 week pre-Black Friday going-out-of-business sales were enough for most shoppers.

As for the Quincy Mall, their lot was half filled. In years past that lot would be filled as well, but not this year.  The loss of Penneys, Bergners and Sears is a lot to overcome. Last, but not least, there was the Shopko lot which was filled all the way to Broadway.

To me the Black Friday craziness is slowing waning as to be expected and perhaps the marketing of it is the reason. For the first time I can recall, I saw advertising for items available during "Black Friday Week". Oh my, now the craziness will cover 7 full days?  When will it all end?
