If you like to drive and would like to help a Veteran the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) have a opportunity for you. The D.A.V. is looking for drivers to drive a veteran on every other Tuesday to the Iowa City Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.  According to a recent article in the Herald Whig, the round trip to Iowa City is usually accomplished within 8 to 10 hours. Volunteers will need a valid driver's license, proof of insurance  be compliant with the Veteran's Administration health requirements.

Volunteer drivers will receive breakfast and lunch as well and will receive orientation and other training prior to their first drive. Vans for those trips are provided. An average of 80 to 100 Veterans are transported to Iowa city monthly from Quincy.
