Updated - Traffic is flowing once again on Highway 61 in Pike County.  A section of US 61 south of the US 54 overpass near Bowling Green was closed earlier this afternoon.   The highway was closed for a time due to low hanging power lines resulting from a vehicle accident.

Original Story - Today at approximately 2 p.m., north and southbound US 61 is closed just south of the US 54 overpass near Bowling Green due to low hanging power lines from a vehicle accident. At approximately 2 p.m., Utility crews notified MoDOT that a motorist hit a utility pole and power lines are across the highway.Crews are at the site and the road will be open to traffic as soon as possible. Delays of up to at least one hour or more should be expected until further notice. Please use alternate routes during this time.
