The 1st annual 'Unity in the Community' festival will take place July 20 to raise funds for the Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex in Quincy.

Members of Unity Lodge #16 of Quincy are raising money for the operating budget of the pool which is located at 710 North 8th Street in Quincy. The complex has faced unexpected mandatory repairs that were required to be finished before the pool was opened. The repairs have been completed, however the operating budget was left in need.

On Saturday, July 20 the 'Unity in the Community' Festival will be held at the pool and will feature music, local vendors, food, games and of course swimming. The event will be free to get in to but donations will be accepted.

On the same night adults can make the evening complete by joining a jazz cruise on the Mark Twain Riverboat in Hannibal from 9pm to midnight. The cost is $25 per person and reservations can be made by calling Cedric Allen at 217-316-2020. Hors d'oeuvres will be served, there will be a cash bar and live music from Ben Bumbry and the Messengers.
