For months now the intersection of 12th and Maine Streets in Quincy has featured a four way stop. That will all change today. The four-way stop was necessitated once that intersection opened up at the beginning of the school year as the street improvement project in front to Quincy Junior High School was still going on. It appears that project, which began last summer, is about to come to an end with the installment today of new traffic lights to control the intersection.

Motorist are advised  that there will be partial lane closures going on today to allow for the installation to take place. These closures should go on through next Tuesday, October 30.  It is hoped the installation will be completed by 5 p.m. that day.

Meanwhile, motorists are reminded to drive carefully thought the construction zone and are encouraged to avoid that intersection if possible and travel over an alternate route for the next few days.
