The numbers are out regarding the amount of collisions involving trains in Missouri. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation there were 48 train crossing collisions, 2 deaths and 36 injuries in 2013 with the 2014 numbers almost identical with 48 train crossing collisions, 2 deaths and 38 injuries.  These numbers do not include the trespassing statistics which saw 16 incidents with 12 deaths and 4 injuries in 2013 and 20 incidents, 9 deaths and 11 injuries in 2014.

Here are some railroad safety tips from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Never drive around lowered gates.                                                                            

Never race a train to a crossing.                                                                                        

Never get trapped on the tracks.                                                                                      

Get out of your vehicle if it stalls on the tracks.                                                                  

Watch for a passing train.                                                                                        

Expect a train.                                                                                                            

Don't be fooled ,the train is moving faster than you think.                                          

Cross tracks at designated pedestrian or roadway crossings.                                      

 Do not cross tracks until the lights have stopped flashing.                                          

 Do not walk on tracks.                                                                                                    

Do not hop on a slow moving train.
