New Traffic Light Activated at 10th and Broadway

After months of discussion and then weeks of installation, the traffic lights at 10th and Broadway are finally in operation today. Drivers on Broadway in Quincy will now need to remember there is a traffic light at the intersection with 10th Street. The traffic lights Thursday were being used as flashing red stop lights initially for testing purposes and later were activated at the intersection as a controlled red, yellow and green light.

The high volume of traffic and the increased pedestrian traffic prompted a need for some sort of traffic control device at that location. Discussions of an overhead or underground walkway were dismissed after review and it was decided that the best solution was that another traffic signal needed to be at that location at Blessing Hospital.
