This Invention in Missouri Is Still Very Much Welcomed!

It was such a simple idea back in 1928 and it occurred in Chillicothe, Missouri. The idea was to slice bread?  Well, prior to July 7, 1928 it was never done, but on that fateful day the Chillicothe Baking Company did just that. Who would have thought that slicing bread would make so many people happy. The word of bread slicing caught on like rising dough.

At the time it was big news, but today it would have gone unnoticed by millions as it is something we all take for granted. Admit it, have you ever asked yourself when they started slicing bread? I didn’t.

It might actually be the best idea ever. I say that because every invention after the slice bread machine is compared to it. If you don't believe me, then just think about it. Anytime some new invention comes along you always hear the line "that's the best idea since sliced bread".

It is a line that has been heard for some 90 years and one that will probably live on forever all because of a simple idea put in place in July of 1928 in Chillicothe, Missouri.
