The Quincy Gems just wrapped up another baseball season out at Q.U. Stadium.  The season was disappointing only because the Gems were unable to make the playoffs.

So Hats off to Terre Haute and lets root them on as the Western Division Champions as they play for the Prospect League Championship.  As a fan you park your car, you walk into the stadium, stop at the concession stand, and find your seat.  Then you relax and enjoy a good baseball game. Everything I just mentioned takes people to accomplish and the only thing the fan has to do is park their car.  From the ticket takers, to the concession people, to the groundskeepers, to the umpires and the players someone is involved with the operations of the game night.  It’s a job that nobody even thinks about. Who is singing the National Anthem?  Who is doing the between innings contests? Who gets the starting lineups to the press box? Who makes sure there is enough ice for the concession stands?  I could go on and on but I won’t.  So with that said, I would like to say thanks to everyone involved with putting on a summer long “show” at the ballpark.  Without these people the game nights would be pretty uneventful and boring. So when you see these people thank them.  Who are they? They are: Rob Ebbing,  Dave Comer, Terry Martin, Jim Wosman, Chris Landwehr, Carmen Marshaus, Danny Summers, Strother Hesse, Randy Mettemeyer, Chris Martin, the Gems Players and all the press box crew who handle the game activities and there are probably more people that I am not even aware of. Thanks guys and gals for all of your hard work in making Gems Baseball a great family event all summer long. I can’t wait for next season!
