The Admiral Coontz Recreation Center in Hannibal has announced new winter hours beginning Tuesday, September 6.

The Admiral Coontz Recreation Area will be open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. The Admiral Coontz Recreation Center will be closed on Monday, September 5 for the Labor Day holiday.

The Rec Center is used daily for many different activities. There is a walking track (12 laps equal 1 mile) and two basketball courts. Pickleball courts, sports equipment, games and puzzles are available for use. An attendant on duty can lend out equipment.

The “Play without Boundaries Sensory Room” is open during regular hours. There are games, puzzles and supplies for all-inclusive indoor play for adults and children. The Rec Center is also in use during evening hours. Pickleball leagues start this week with the competitive league playing on Tuesday and leisure league playing on Thursday.

The Horseshoe league will begin its season on Monday, September 12. Registration for the horseshoe league is available until September 6 at the Hannibal Parks & Recreation office at the Hannibal City Hall located at 320 Broadway.
