Thanksgiving Day is 52 days away and you can thank Abraham Lincoln for establishing it as a national holiday. Lincoln proclaimed that Thanksgiving Day should be observed on the last Thursday in November on this date in 1863.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt move the day back one week in 1939 to stimulate Christmas shopping.  Congress moved the date back to it's original date in 1941. So without Abraham Lincoln, we might not ever have had a "Thanksgiving Day". So give thanks to Abe when you sit in front of your turkey this year.

Just another little known fact about Abe Lincoln.
