Though her new single, ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,’ sold enough to break records, don’t think Taylor Swift is going to rely on just that trick to anchor her upcoming album, ‘Red.’ In fact, she actually told MTV that the hyper-catchy single is pretty unlike anything else on the record — except for the emotion behind it.

“There are 16 songs on the album and every single one of them is about some sort of intense emotion that I felt,” Swift told Sway. “Even if it’s something like ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,’ which is the moment you finally stop caring what your ex thinks about you. Those are all really important moments in the course of a relationship, even though there’s nothing else on the record really quite like ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’”

Not gonna lie, we’re a little bummed that her new album isn’t going to be more of ‘Never Ever,’ because, well, that song is freakin’ great. On the bright side, though, Swift offers some explanation behind the jerky guy who may have inspired it by talking about another track on the record. “There’s a song called ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ … It’s really intense and I’m so excited for people to hear it because it’s about [when] you meet someone and you just know ‘Oh, you’re bad. Why am I walking towards you anyway?’” Oh hey, John Mayer!

Swift also revealed why her album is called ‘Red.’ “Red is just a bold, brave color,” the scarlet-lipped songstress explained. “I love red lipstick. I love red dresses. I love red shoes. I love a red stage — that’s what we’re sitting on right now. Red is the theme of the moment.” Here’s hoping she doesn’t play in front of an bulls!
