It was back in 2008 when Dick McKinney asked me if I would come to a meeting to help revive the Veteran's Day Parade in Quincy. It had been some 35 years since Quincy held a Veteran's Day Parade and Dick was hoping I would be able to share some contacts and information from the St. Patrick's Parade with him. I was more than happy to assist.

It is hard to believe but this Saturday the 6th Annual Veteran's Parade will be held in Quincy with nearly 80 entries ready to go down Maine Street beginning at 10am. I remember meeting with the parade chairmen Jim Ponsot and Dick McKinney five years ago to discuss putting on the first parade.  We had no idea how many entries we would have but to see it nearing 80 this year is fabulous.

Toys for Tots program local coordinator Steve Lindsey and Marine Corp Sgt. Jonathan Schulte were recent guests of the Quincy Exchange Club.  According to Mr. Lindsey, a retired USMC veteran, the Toys for Tots program got its start in Los Angeles in 1947 when a Marine Corps Major’s wife made a Raggedy Ann Doll and she asked her husband to give it to someone but there wasn’t anyone to give it to.
