Safe Kids Adams County and the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Safety are urging parents and caregivers to make sure their child safety seats are properly installed. Quincy will have certified technicians available to provide free hands-on child safety seat inspections and advice from 4 to 6 p.m. at Central Fire Station at 906 Vermont is Friday.
Home fires have proven to be one of the largest disaster threats facing American families today, resulting more than 8 in 10 fire-related deaths. To raise awareness about this issue and encourage families to be prepared, Safe Kids Adams County will be joining Central Fire Station, Safe Kids Worldwide, Nationwide’s Make Safe Happen program and other experts for a Home Fire Drill Day this Saturday.
National Seat Check Saturday is this Saturday, September 24, and Safe Kids Adams County will be conducting a child safety seat belt check. Certified technicians will be available to provide free hands-on child safety seat inspections and advice from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Central Fire Station at 906 Vermont Street in Quincy.
As temperatures are expected to reach the 90s this weekend, it’s important to remember temperatures can become deadly inside a car in a very short period of time. Safe Kids Adams County reminds caregivers to never leave children alone in cars.
Safe Kids Adams County and the Kohl’s Cares Campaign are hosting a car seat round-up to dispose of old and or expired car seats. This event will take place this Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kohl’s parking lot at 6100 Broadway.

The collection of old child seats will be held at Kohl’s Department Store parking lot at 6100 Broadway in Quincy this Saturday from 10 until noon. For exchange of your old car seat, you will get a $10 Kohl's gift certificate for the first 300 seats exchanged.
