The 26th Annual Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Quincy, presented by the Quincy Exchange Club, will be held on May 28 and 29. The time to register initially has passed but the deadline has been extended until Monday, May 16th. To register before this Monday go to www.macker.com.

The 27th Annual Teddy Bear Clinic will be held this Sunday afternoon from noon to 3 p.m. at Blessing Hospital's main entrance. The 2015 Missouri vs. Illinois All-Star High School Baseball Game will be played on Saturday, July 11. The game will feature the top 48 senior baseball players in the area representing 25 different high schools on both sides of the Mississippi River.

In conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, the Quincy Fire Department will be holding their Annual Fire Prevention Week Kickoff event on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Quincy Mall. A couple of six foot tall stuffed bears will make their first appearance at the Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing’s 26th Annual Teddy Bear Clinic on Sunday, October 5, from Noon to 4 p.m. The Clinic will be held in the Auditorium of Blessing Hospital at 11th Street in Quincy (Hospital main entrance).The new bears are named Flo and Dorsey Brown Bear.

The days of "Summer Vacation" are winding down for school children in the area and with it comes the need for purchasing school supplies for the upcoming school year. The cost of these supplies are continuing to go up like everything else. With that in mind, the "Stuff the Bus" campaign will be held this Friday and Saturday.

The Illinois Veterans Home Quincy and WGEM-TV announced that the 2014 Fourth of July fireworks celebration will once again be held on the Illinois Veterans Home grounds in 2014.  This is the third time in the past four years that the event has taken place there.

The Sister City Commission announced at their monthly meeting that they will host the Germanfest on Saturday, May 31 in South Park. According to Mecki Kosin, the festival will come back in its original form, with food, drink and music.
