Check Out This Green ‘Rod and the Satalites’ Record We Found in the Radio Station [Video]

Radio stations are places that end up collecting a lot of stuff. Some of the stuff is really neat. Some of it is not. Here's something we found that is a piece of local music history. Rod and the Satalites was a band that was popular in our area in the 1960s, and we have a very nice copy of one of their records. Something unusual about the record is that it is green, and inside the sleeve was something else we found interesting, a "live on KHMO radio" stage pass from a show at the American Legion in Hannibal.

6th Annual Cadan’s Carnival For CDH Awareness Taking Place at Quincy Knights of Columbus – an Interview With Tiffany Frericks

The 6th annual Cadan's Carnival Halloween event will take place October 19 at the Quincy Knights of Columbus. The carnival is held in memory of Cadan Christopher Frericks, son of Tiffany and Rome Frericks, who passed away only weeks after his birth due to complications from Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a birth defect where the diaphragm does not properly form, allowing the abdominal organs to move up into the chest. The carnival is held in Cadan's honor, and raises awareness of CDH and funds for CDH research. Cadan's mom, Tiffany, was kind enough to give us a few moments of her time for an interview.

Here’s How the Amtrak Train Turns Around

Each and every day there are two Amtrak trains that serve the Quincy area with trips to and from Chicago. The Illinois Zephyr leaves Quincy at 6:12 mornings and returns each night at 10:23. The Carl Sandburg departs Quincy each night at 5:30 and arrives in Chicago at 9:58. That train then returns the next morning at 7:35 from Chicago and arrives in Quincy at 12:03 p.m. With both trains routes ending in Quincy, I always wondered how the train actually turns around in West Quincy to prepare for the trip back to Chicago.
