There was a news story a few weeks ago about the new Taco Bell in Quincy. It was a story about the opening of the new Taco Bell and how people were a little mad with the service of the restaurant. They said it was slow service, people had to wait for the food for a while and things like that. I say give them a break. They're new!
There are a ton of talented local musicians in our area. Some have played for years, others are just starting out. Many of them have their own channels on YouTube, which makes discovering their music about as easy as it gets. The Loomis Brothers Circus, originally scheduled for the Oakley Lindsay Center, has been moved to the Adams County Fairgrounds. Performances will still be held on Wednesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 19.
An interesting news story came out last week that many may not have seen is revealing that scientists believe that magma is rising in Mt. St. Helens and that an eruption may be in the works. It has been 34 years since Mt. St. Helen’s erupted in Washington State and this area saw the effects of that eruption.
Quincy's annual Fishing Rodeo is Saturday at Moorman Lake. The Fishing Rodeo always takes place during Free Fishing Days in Illinois (where you are allowed to fish without a fishing license). People of all ages come out to fish with us during the Fishing Rodeo, and everyone always has a great time. To celebrate the Fishing Rodeo, the Big Dog and I have decided to share some fish stories. Like the time Dog had to fish our oars (I may have dropped them out of the boat) out of the water.
An important anniversary, my arrival in Quincy, surprisingly passed without my recognizing it. The year was 1978 when I got a call out of the blue from a Gary Schmedding of WTAD Radio and KHQA-TV on a warm May day.
The 2014 Veteran's Day Parade will be held in Quincy on Saturday, November 8. That date was confirmed by the parade committee as well as the revelation of this year's Grand Marshall who will be Richard Pace of Canton, Missouri.
