Brother Ed Arambasich, the Quincy Fire Department Chaplain, is hosting as fundraising bus trip to Busch Stadium in St. Louis to see the Cardinals host the San Diego Padres on Thursday, August 14.

Making sure that you child is safe in your vehicle is what this Saturday’s old child safety seat roundup is all about. The collection of old child seats will be held at Kohl’s Department Store parking lot at 6100 Broadway in Quincy this Saturday from 10 until noon. For exchange of your old car seat, you will get a $10 Kohl's gift certificate for the first 300 seats exchanged.

On Wednesday, a Quincy man and his young child died in a fire at 515 South 17th Street. The call came in around 2:40 a.m. Quincy Police were on the scene first and pulled a person out of a window. That person told the police there were two others in the back of the house. The Quincy Fire Department arrived and pulled the other two out. The Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge will be held this Saturday at Moorman Lake in Upper Moorman Park in Quincy.  There is still time to sign up to "plunge" by going to www.plungeillinois.com. The Quincy Fire Department along with Home Depot will be holding a demonstration this Saturday at 12 noon of the possible dangers of a Christmas tree fire.

The Quincy Fire Department has placed wreaths with red lights on them at all of their firehouses around the city of Quincy. The idea is to have nothing but red lights on the wreath which would mean a fire free Christmas season for homes in the city. The Quincy Fire Department has announced the names of the 8 winners of fire escape ladders given away by the Fire Department.  The winners names were drawn from all the registrants from the Fire Prevention Week Kickoff event at the Quincy Mall held on October 19th.

The Fifth Annual Quincy Exchange Club Firefighter of the Year Award presentation took place today with October being National Fire Awareness Month.  This year’s winner was Assistant Fire Chief James Pioch of the Quincy Fire Department, an 18 year veteran of the Department.
